REMINDER – we want your work!!!!!!!

We have been seeing some lovely examples of work and we want more.

We are sure there are lots of Year 4 children who are busy working at home but not sending us your work. We would like all of you to be taking photos of all the hard work you are doing and sending us the pictures to ContactYear4@holbrook.coventry.sch.uk

This is all types of work you do maths, Miss Wilson’s weekly challenge, reading, spelling, Ms Craig’s weekly challenge, writing, topic, and so on. We can’t wait to see what else you can do!

RE – Wednesday 29th April

With the start of a new term, we are starting a new topic.

Topic title

What can we learn from religions about what is right and wrong?

To get us started, I want you to begin thinking about rules that we encounter in life. Where do you have to follow rules? Make a list of places in your mind. How are the rules the same or different?

Can you remember the school rules? school rules

Rules are part of everyday life and sometimes without rules, nothing makes sense and you don’t understand what to do. Take the current circumstances we live in, we now have new rules to follow to be able to keep everyone safe and well and avoid getting Covid-19 (coronavirus).

For today’s learning, I would like for you to design a poster with the key RULES we have to follow during this pandemic. These rules must be things everyone has to do. For example, washing your hands for at least 20 seconds, especially if you have been out of the house.

We look forward to seeing some of your posters!

Topic

Our new topic is World of Wonder!

In this topic, we will be learning all about different biomes around the world, the animals that live in them and the difficulties that both the biomes and the animals face due to things such as pollution and deforestation.

So how is a biome different to a habitat?

Watch the video clip for more information about the different biomes there are in the world.

We will be focusing on three of the biomes,

If we were in school, today would have been our topic wow day. We would have been busily creating a display for our classroom.

We would like you make a mini display that you can bring in when we are back at school.

We would like you to choose one of the biomes and create a picture of it. You will need to include the plant life, what the ground surface is like and the animals that live there.

Your picture needs to be no bigger than A4, you can use any materials you have around your house to try and make it stand out. For example cotton wool on the polar bears, black bin bags for the zebra stripes and twigs from the garden to make your tree trunks. Or you can draw, colour and paint. The choice is yours.

Look at the examples below for some inspiration.

If we were in school 4D would be doing the Savanna, 4H would be doing the Tundra and 4P would be doing the Rainforest. You can stick to this or you can choose the biome you are most interested in.

Enjoy making your mini display and we look forward to seeing the end results.
