We’re learning the importance of collaborative work…

We were given the task of building the tallest tower in our groups but had to work as a team to do it. We decided on some rules that would help us. These were:

-to listen to each other

-to be kind and respectful

-to give everyone a job

-to make it fair

-to share ideas and resources

-to speak calmly

Subordinate clauses

Wow, what a challenge! We have been learning about surboniate clauses using the subordinating conjunctions because, when, before and after.

You can see in our writing we have practised writing the main clause first, then adding the additional information with a subordinate clause. We were so clever because we then switched the sentence around putting the subordinate clause at the beginning and used a comma to punctuate between the clauses.

Can you practise at home?

Staying safe.

Our first computing lesson looked at our school rules for using a computer.  We have looked at the rules a lot over the last few years so we know what to do to stay safe.  The school filters lots of websites to keep us as safe as possible but everyday new websites start up so sometimes even with filters in place things can pop up.  If we ever feel uncomfortable we need to TELL an adult.  In school we should.

  • Close the laptop lid
  • Let the teacher know as soon as possible.
  • Don’t close the browser – so we can investigate or block the site.

This stops other children seeing the things that upset us.  Then the teacher can help us.  We don’t call for help or put out hand up as other children will try and help us like they do in other lessons but that means more people will get upset.

Remember lid down the hand up.

Times tables, times tables and more times tables

Many of you will already be very engaged in learning our times tables through times tables rock stars. It is very important this year to learn all these facts by heart as I’m sure you’ve been told there will be a test at the end of the year to see how well you’ve learnt them. In school we do a lot of practise in school, like this…

The children get 7 minutes to complete the sheet and hopefully it’s more than enough time but now it’s time to learn those tricky tables to make it fast!
